Atmastco Limited Shares Hit 20% UC After Clearing Mandatory Ballistic Testing At NFSU

Synopsis: Atmastco Limited’s stock surged by nearly 20% on April 1, 2026, reaching its upper circuit after the company announced its subsidiary has successfully cleared critical ballistic tests for its new line of bullet-resistant jackets.

Bhilai-based engineering firm Atmastco Limited has achieved a landmark technical breakthrough in its move into the defence sector. In a regulatory filing dated April 1, 2026, the company announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Atmastco Defence Systems Private Limited, has cleared mandatory ballistic testing at the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) in Gandhinagar.

The evaluation, completed on March 30, confirmed that the company’s Soft Armor Panels (SAP) and Hard Armor Panels (HAP) met the rigorous IS 17051:2018 Indian Standard. During the tests, the panels demonstrated zero perforation even against high-calibre rifle ammunition at close range. This clearance represents the final technical hurdle before the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) grants full product certification, which is expected shortly.

Atmastco Limited’s share price jumped ₹19.95 (20%) to hit the upper circuit at ₹119.75 on the NSE during the intraday session. This sharp recovery comes as the market reacts to the company’s transition from a legacy engineering firm to a specialized defence player.

Despite a difficult year where the stock declined by approximately 34.06 percent, the technical breakthrough has sparked a reversal from its 52-week low of ₹98.00, touched just days prior. Investors are now eyeing the BIS certification as the next major catalyst for the stock’s valuation.

Company Overview

Founded in 1994 and headquartered in Bhilai, Atmastco Limited is an ISO-certified leader in industrial engineering and turnkey solutions. The company specializes in the design and fabrication of heavy structures for the steel, power, and infrastructure sectors.

Its recent expansion into Atmastco Defence Systems focuses on advanced protective gear, including bullet-resistant jackets and helmets. This strategic shift positions the group as an emerging player in India’s strategic defence landscape and significantly boosts its growth profile for FY 2026-27.
