OpenAI Begins Showing Kalshi World Cup Odds in ChatGPT Search Results

OpenAI has begun displaying Kalshi’s World Cup prediction market data in some ChatGPT search results through what is reportedly the artificial intelligence company’s first partnership with a prediction market, according to The New York Times. The integration adds Kalshi-sourced win forecasts to match cards for certain 2026 FIFA World Cup searches, bringing the CFTC-regulated exchange’s odds directly into ChatGPT.

DeFi Rate independently verified the feature through multiple searches, including while logged out of ChatGPT. Generic queries for World Cup semifinal matchups such as France versus Spain produced a match card assigning France a 59% chance of advancing and Spain 41%, with the forecast labeled “Source: Kalshi.”

The partnership has not been publicly promoted, and financial terms were not disclosed. OpenAI and Kalshi both declined to comment to The New York Times.

OpenAI says users cannot ‘place bets’ through ChatGPT

OpenAI has acknowledged the Kalshi integration on its help site, where it says ChatGPT may display the platform’s odds for 2026 World Cup searches.

“For queries related to the 2026 World Cup, ChatGPT may show predictive information sourced from Kalshi to provide timely context about upcoming matches,” the help page says. “This is for informational purposes only. You cannot place bets through ChatGPT, per our Usage Policies.”

The company also says the information will always be clearly identified with the label “Source: Kalshi.”

DeFi Rate’s tests found the integration does not provide a direct path to Kalshi. The source label in the match card was not clickable, and Kalshi did not appear among the response’s linked sources, even when ChatGPT cited stories from outlets including The Associated Press and other news organizations below the answer.

The current feature functions more as an informational display than an in-platform wagering product. Users can see Kalshi-derived probabilities inside ChatGPT, but they cannot trade from the platform or follow an obvious link to the corresponding Kalshi market.

Kalshi forecasts appear only in some World Cup searches

The Kalshi-powered forecasts did not appear across every World Cup-related query in DeFi Rate’s testing. Searches focused on upcoming games or dates, including “World Cup today,” “World Cup Wednesday” and “France vs Spain World Cup,” produced ChatGPT match cards with odds sourced from Kalshi.

A search for “World Cup Wednesday,” for example, generated a card for the England-Argentina semifinal showing England with a 55% chance of advancing to the World Cup final and Argentina with a 45% chance.

The figures were close to, but not always identical to, prices displayed on Kalshi at the same time. DeFi Rate found differences of about one percentage point in both semifinal markets, suggesting the ChatGPT cards may not update in real time.

By contrast, broader queries including “World Cup,” “World Cup winner” and “World Cup England” did not produce Kalshi forecasts. Those searches instead returned general tournament information, news results or other World Cup content.

The results suggest the integration is tied primarily to queries that trigger cards for specific upcoming matches, rather than all World Cup-related searches. OpenAI’s help page similarly says ChatGPT “may show” Kalshi-sourced predictive information for relevant queries, indicating the feature is not applied universally.

Kalshi expands its prediction market data partnerships

The OpenAI agreement is the latest step in Kalshi’s push to distribute its market data beyond its own trading platform. The company has increasingly sought to place prediction market probabilities inside widely used news and technology products, giving its prices exposure to people who may never visit Kalshi directly.

Kalshi has struck data-distribution deals with CNN, CNBC and Fox News Media, putting its market probabilities in front of television and digital news audiences. CNN and CNBC regularly feature Kalshi odds in on-air segments and graphics.

Rival Polymarket announced an exclusive Dow Jones agreement in January to bring its prediction market data to products including The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s and MarketWatch.

Google has also incorporated data from Kalshi and Polymarket into Google Finance, where users can ask about future events and view market probabilities and changes over time.

The ChatGPT integration extends that distribution strategy into generative AI, where Kalshi’s probabilities can appear as part of a direct answer to a user’s question rather than only in a dedicated market or financial-data page.

World Cup-only, at least for now

The ChatGPT integration appears limited to the 2026 World Cup in its current form. OpenAI’s help page specifically ties the Kalshi-sourced forecasts to World Cup queries, and DeFi Rate’s tests did not produce comparable cards for searches involving specific MLB or NFL games.

For Kalshi, the immediate value appears to be exposure rather than direct customer conversion. The match cards place the company’s name and market-derived probabilities in front of users who may never visit a prediction market platform, without allowing them to trade through ChatGPT.

That fits with Kalshi’s broader effort to make its probabilities part of mainstream news and information products. The company has already put its data in front of television audiences through partnerships with major news outlets, and ChatGPT gives it access to another large pool of users seeking quick answers about current and upcoming events.

Whether OpenAI eventually expands the feature to other sports or non-sports markets remains unclear. For now, the arrangement looks less like a betting integration than a limited distribution deal designed to familiarize users with Kalshi and its data.
