Synopsis: Disclosing unaudited sales data for May 2026, VST Tillers Tractors reported combined monthly volume of 4,472 units a 28 percent jump over 3,486 units in May 2025 with Power Tiller sales driving the outperformance; the year-to-date FY27 tally of 7,955 units is running 37 percent ahead of the 5,806 units sold in the same period of FY26.
Shares of India’s largest Power Tiller manufacturer came into focus on June 1, 2026, after the company filed monthly sales volume data for May 2026 with BSE and NSE under Regulation 30 of SEBI (LODR) Regulations, 2015. The numbers point to a strong opening to FY27, with volume momentum building from April itself.
With a market capitalization of approx Rs. 4,057.71 crore, the shares of VST Tillers Tractors Limited were last quoted at Rs. 4,689.5 per share, up 2.10 percent from its previous close of Rs.4,593. The stock is trading at a P/E of 37.56.
VST Tillers Tractors sold 4,472 units in May 2026, comprising 4,019 Power Tillers and 453 Tractors. Against May 2025’s 3,486 units (3,047 Power Tillers and 439 Tractors), this represents a 28 percent year-on-year jump in total volume. Power Tiller growth at 32 percent was the sharper acceleration; the core product line added nearly 1,000 units year-on-year in a single month. Tractor sales were comparatively steady, up 3 percent from 439 to 453 units.
On a year-to-date basis (April and May combined), the company has sold 7,955 units versus 5,806 units in the same two-month window of FY26, a 37 percent cumulative increase. Power Tillers year-to-date stood at 7,130 units against 5,050 last year, while Tractors registered 825 units versus 756.
The strong Power Tiller numbers warrant some context. The Power Tiller segment is highly seasonal; the bulk of sales cluster around the kharif sowing season (June to September) and, to a lesser degree, the rabi cycle. May volumes therefore partly reflect channel stocking ahead of peak demand rather than pure end-user pull. Whether this channel fill translates into sustained retail offtake over June and July will be the more telling indicator for FY27.
The tractor numbers remain modest in absolute terms. VST’s tractor range sits in the compact and sub-compact segment under the VST Shakti brand, catering to small landholdings and horticulture, a narrower addressable market than the 40-50 HP mainstream tractor segment dominated by Mahindra, Sonalika, and TAFE. Growth here is incremental rather than structural, but directionally positive.
It is also worth noting that VST’s Power Tiller business holds the No. 1 position in India under the VST Shakti brand, with over five decades of market presence. The company traces its origins to a 1966 joint venture with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Japan; the collaboration has since expired and the VST family holds 51 percent of the listed entity.
Business Overview
VST Tillers Tractors Limited, established in 1967 and listed on both BSE (531266) and NSE (VSTTILLERS), manufactures Power Tillers and compact Tractors under the VST Shakti brand. It is part of the VST Group, a century-old South Indian business house. The company is almost debt-free, with a healthy dividend payout history averaging 18.6 percent. The most recently reported quarterly financials showed debtor days widening to 75.5 days from 62.7 days a metric to watch given the seasonal sales pattern.
