Synopsis: Technology services giant Wipro Limited has announced that its step-down subsidiary, Wipro IT Services, LLC, is strengthening its global insurance tech presence by purchasing an additional 20% equity slice in Aggne Global Inc. for a cash layout of USD 28.5 million.
Shares of Wipro Limited, with a market capitalization of Rs. 2,20,652.70 crore, are trading at a price of Rs. 210.10, up 1.79% from its previous closing price of Rs. 206.41. The stock touched an intraday high of Rs. 210.18 and a low of Rs. 206.51. It is trading at a P/E ratio of 16.37.
In a formal regulatory announcement filed with the National Stock Exchange (NSE), BSE Limited, and the New York Stock Exchange on June 1, 2026, IT multinational Wipro Limited disclosed a major step-up in its international technology portfolio. The transaction expands upon an initial milestone transaction completed on February 14, 2024, where Wipro originally established a controlling 60% position in the enterprise.
According to the statutory disclosure made under Regulation 30 of the SEBI Regulations, 2015, the group’s American step-down subsidiary, Wipro IT Services, LLC, has entered into an agreement to acquire an additional 20% stake in Aggne Global Inc.. The purchase consideration for this stake expansion is valued at USD 28.5 million (approx ₹238 crore), subject to customary, mutually agreed closing balance sheet adjustments.
The fresh equity infusion will directly scale Wipro IT Services, LLC’s cumulative ownership in Aggne Global Inc. from 60% up to 80%. The management confirmed that the final commercialization of the share transfer is on a fast track, with the transaction legally expected to reach full closure at the latest by June 5, 2026. Since the target entity is already an operating subsidiary of the company, no new government or external regulatory approvals are required to conclude the cash-settled purchase.
The strategic significance of the transaction extends beyond a simple stake increase. Aggne Global is regarded as one of the leading implementation and consulting partners within the Duck Creek Technologies ecosystem, a cloud-native software platform widely adopted by Property & Casualty (P&C) insurers. By increasing its ownership to 80%, Wipro is strengthening its consulting-led insurance transformation capabilities and positioning itself to capture a larger share of high-value digital modernization spending as insurers continue migrating from legacy systems to cloud-based platforms.
Aggne Group is widely recognized as a fast-growing, premium Insurtech player specialized in the global Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance sector. The firm deploys a proprietary suite of Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms, intellectual property-driven services, and operational consulting models designed to help legacy insurers digitize back-end logistics and optimize automated customer processing experiences. The firm boasts a highly robust growth trajectory, recording a multi-year scaling of annual turnover from USD 18.9 million in FY24 to USD 24.2 million in FY25, highlighting strong demand across its core North American operating corridors.
From a valuation perspective, the USD 28.5 million consideration for the additional 20% stake implies an enterprise valuation of approximately USD 142.5 million for Aggne Global. Based on the company’s FY25 revenue of USD 24.2 million, the transaction values Aggne at roughly 5.8 times revenue, a multiple generally considered reasonable for a specialized Insurtech platform with proprietary intellectual property, strong growth rates, and deep expertise in the insurance technology ecosystem.
The move also reflects a broader trend across the global IT services industry, where large technology firms are increasingly acquiring niche AI, cloud, and SaaS specialists to strengthen domain-specific capabilities. With competitors such as Infosys and Tata Consultancy Services continuing to invest in specialized digital transformation assets, Wipro’s decision to raise its stake in Aggne further consolidates its position within the insurance technology vertical and reinforces its long-term growth strategy in the North American BFSI market.
